I just realized that a new George Clooney promotional tour will be upon us very soon. Does that make you happy? I do feel a certain schadenfreude about George’s promotional tours over the past few years, because he’s been more and more forthcoming about his wife and his marriage, and it’s just so NEW for him. He used to limit the conversations about his romantic life, but now that he’s married to Amal, it seems more like his film promotional tours are just tours to talk about Amal. It’s weird. So, George gave an early interview to Hello, and wouldn’t you know? He talks about his marriage rules and how many homes they have.
George Clooney revealed one very important marriage rule he shares with his gorgeous lawyer wife, Amal Alamuddin, and it’s sweet.
“We have a rule whereby we are never apart for more than a week,” the Money Monster star, 54, told Hello! of his wife, 38. “We also stay in touch via social media, so we try to keep close even if we’re in different parts of the world.”
Luckily, the power couple has numerous homes around the globe where they can catch up. “We have a place in London now where it’s easy for us to spend a lot of time together and I can work on new film projects — writing, reading scripts,” Clooney told the mag. “Or we can go to Lake Como or spend time in Los Angeles when I need to have meetings for my acting work, or hang around with some of my friends.”
“It takes some planning, but it’s actually been working out very well for us,” Clooney continued of his marriage to the renowned barrister. “She also looks great on the red carpet!”
“We have a very strong connection and she’s an extraordinary woman doing great work,” Clooney gushed to Hello. “We’re both committed and share a common concern for causes like the refugee crisis, but what really brings us together as a couple is the fact that we’re good friends and we enjoy each other’s company.”
These sound like quotes written by a publicist and fed to People Magazine, right? While I don’t doubt that they share many common interests, saying you love your wife because you “share a common concern for causes like the refugee crisis” seems strangely unemotional. But yeah, whatever. George wants you to know that he and Amal are still going strong. And Money Monster might even get a Cannes premiere, so we might even see Amal and George working the Cannes red carpet this year.
Meanwhile, Amal stepped out in New York last night. She wore a mod sweater dress and “kinky boots.” She was fresh from getting her hair done by Serge Normant at John Frieda in Chelsea, according to Page Six. A witness said: “She was low-key and just had a Mercedes waiting outside for her.”
