7 p.m., Fox Sports Detroit, CBC, WXYT-FM (97.1): Saturday night. Original Six. And the stakes are high for the Wings.

Detroit Red Wings (39-28-11, 89 points) vs. Toronto Maple Leafs (28-38-11, 67 points)

When: 7 p.m.

Where: Air Canada Centre, Toronto.

TV: Fox Sports Detroit, CBC.

Radio: WXYT-FM (97.1; other radio affiliates).

Game notes: Why not have a little buzz in the arena, at least from the Wings’ perspective. Facing their longtime rivals and former head coach, Detroit needs two points badly. They are a point behind the Bruins for third in the Atlantic Division. At daybreak, they were tied with the Flyers for the second wild-card spot (Philadelphia hosts Ottawa this afternoon). No word on if Jimmy Howard will go back-to-back after Friday’s win over the Wild or if Petr Mrazek will start this crucial game in goal.
