One person was killed in a crash that closed Grand Avenue from 61st to 55th avenues Thursday morning, according to Glendale police.
Police identified Jorge Rivas, 24, of Phoenix, as the driver killed in the two-vehicle crash.
The initial investigation shows that Rivas’ Honda was travelling northwest on Grand Avenue when a Lexus on 57th Drive made a left turn in front of his vehicle just before 7:20 a.m.
Rivas was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a Glendale police statement. The driver of the Lexus had minor injuries and remained at the scene.
Police say impairment was not a factor and the investigation is ongoing.
